16 Aug 24 Painting Ghana Purple: Mental Health Awareness Initiatives by Our Ghana Team
In May, Mental Health Awareness Month, our Ghana team undertook a comprehensive CSR project to support mental health initiatives. Partnering with the Mental Health Authority of Ghana under the Ministry of Health, we aimed to create widespread awareness using DOOH and offer direct support to mental health institutions and to our team.
We launched a mental health awareness campaign using four strategic digital billboards across Accra. These billboards featured mental health creatives that ran throughout the month of May, ensuring maximum visibility and impact. The locations included Dzorwulu, Afrikiko, Liberation Circle, and the National Theatre.
On 27th May 2024, Dr. Joel Agorinya, a psychiatrist from the Mental Health Authority, delivered an enlightening talk to our staff at the Alliance Media Ghana office. Dr. Agorinya’s insights helped our team understand mental health issues better, encouraging a supportive and informed workplace environment.
Maxwell Sarkodie, our Project Team Lead, commented on the session stating:
“The talk by Dr. Agorinya was not only informative but also empowering. It has equipped our team with the knowledge to better understand and support mental health within our community.”
The project concluded with a donation of essential items to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital on 31st May 2024. The donated items included various supplies that would help improve the living conditions and treatment experiences of the patients. This act of giving highlighted our commitment to supporting mental health institutions and those they serve.
We are proud of our team’s efforts and the positive impact they have made. By raising awareness, providing education, and offering tangible support, we aim to help dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health and extend our support to those in need.
Percy Tweneboa, General Manager of Alliance Media Ghana, expressed, “We are honoured to contribute to our community’s well-being through our support for mental health awareness. Our efforts reflect our dedication to building a healthier and more compassionate society. Together, we can create positive change and cultivate an environment where mental health is valued and supported.”
